Ruthless People #1…the book that started it all…
"One Marriage + Two Bosses = 3X the Chaos."
To the outside world, they look like American royalty, giving to charities, feeding the homeless, and rebuilding the city. But behind closed doors is a constant battle for dominance between two bosses, cultures, and hearts.
Ruthless People is a romantic crime fiction set in modern day Chicago and follows the life and marriage of Melody Giovanni and Liam Callahan - rivals by blood and leaders through fear. Theirs is an arranged marriage with the goal of ending years of bloodshed between the Irish and the Italians. Liam assumes he's getting a simple-minded wife, one he can control, one who bends to his every need...he’ll soon find out that his wife to be does not fit that mold.
Melody knows exactly what type of man Liam is and would rather die than give up the power she has spent her life earning.
The mafia of the past has evolved, and with rival bosses gunning for their family, Melody and Liam will have to learn to work as one to take down those who stand in their way.

Finally!! I am getting round to reading a book by this author and it was Mafia at it's finest.
Everything about this book captivated me.
Mel, I loved her, so bad ass and such a strong character and Liam with his own dose of ruthless topped off with a cheeky charm very few people saw.
Great characters and what a match!
Two mafia bosses, Mel who is Italian and Liam who is Irish. An arranged marriage and a union of two families that will make them stronger against the Russians.
Brilliant and exciting.
Mel seemed unhinged, she was ruthless, she didn't love or want to receive love whereas Liam had family values and was close to his family. I loved the progression in their marriage and how they both learned from each other and became a force to be reckoned with.
Twists and turns, action, hotness, Ruthless people contained everything I love in a mafia romance.
Told in first person multiple pov's at times but in all the right places. Written well and the whole plot flowed brilliantly.
Great secondary characters, I can't wait to read the next books.
Disappointed only the first book is KU so it may take me some time before I read this whole series as I subscribe to KU and try and read books in it.
Recommended mafia romance series.
Ruthless people leaves you wanting more.

So hot and addictive.
Such a great plot, I got to a point where I just couldn't put it down, it was like watching something simmer then go to boiling, I was hypnotized.
A bit about the plot:
Teresa's family left a crime organization a long time ago and went to live in a different state which sadly was short lived for her parents. Following the death of her parents, her brother was wanting to take a visit back home which he does but he is discovered and taken in by the crime boss who is still bitter about the family fleeing and so Silas takes him to work for him and holds him as ransom.
Teresa's only way of getting her brother back is to do what Silas says and she is given the job of seducing his son and making him fall for her so much he will follow her back home, back to bringing the money in, bringing him back to New York. Will works in finances and is at the top of his game and good at his job earning the company a lot of money and Wills absence is rocking his father's financial boat.
Will only recently discovered that his life had been a lie. The father he thought he had was nothing more than a criminal, Will felt deceived, betrayed and despised his office job life. The last straw was Will discovering his dog has a fatal illness and he has worked so much, so many long hours that he feels guilty about the missed time with him.
Will has a new awakening to life and decides to live it how he wants and goes on a road trip with his dog, a bonding trip.
Teresa is told by Silas were Will is and she not only seduces Will but at first sight has him hooked.
The chemistry between these two is sizzling hot.
Teresa struggles to keep her secret the more she falls for Will.
I loved it. This is the kind of book that has a bit of everything to keep you turning the pages with no boring dips in the plot.
I laughed, swooned, felt the sad times which were only a few, enjoyed the action and angst and boy did I enjoy the hot moments.
My first book by this author and I would definitely read more.
A stand alone, told in first person dual pov and leads to a hea.
MMA Middleweight World Champion, Jackson "Jax" Malone has just entered the fight of his life. Known for his viciousness in the cage, and his playboy ways out of it, Jax is arrested and charged with a brutal rape. The thought of spending decades in prison is one of the few things that actually scares the shit out of this cocky fighter.
Newly admitted attorney Page Davenport is willing to do anything it takes to get out from under her father's thumb and finally prove herself in his law firm. Anything except represent the infamous miscreant, Jackson "The Mauler" Malone. Despite her protests, Page is powerless to avoid becoming the sacrificial lamb, the token female, who will be the face of the violent, angry Neanderthal's defense team.
Jax is a bad boy with a temper, doing whatever the hell he wants in life while flipping the bird at all his haters. Page is the prim and proper rich debutante her parents want her to be. They've been pulling her strings, telling her what to do, where to go to school, what to wear, and even who she should marry.
Page and Jax struggle to work together, engaging in a knockdown drag-out fight for dominance. When they finally stop taking swings at each other, they're both surprised to realize that sometimes first impressions are completely wrong. In fact, opposites really do seem to attract. However, there are lines that attorneys and their clients can never cross, if Page wants to keep her license to practice law.
Will Page risk it all and submit to the cocky fighter? Or will Jax's temper and jealousy prove too much for her to take on outside of the courtroom?
Either way, one thing is for sure - neither Page nor Jax are going down without a fight. In the end, the secret for them to find heaven may be to battle their way through hell first.
This 72K word book has a HEA with no cliffhanger
Jax is currently Free
Jax, a COCKY cage fighter.
I really do love these types of story's, man-whore meets girl who turns his whoring little world upside down and then he sees the error of his ways.
Jax is definitely a man-whore with a big COCKY attitude to match, he's the undefeated champion with girls falling over themselves to be with him until he is wrongly accused of rape by an attention and money grabbing fan/stalker.
Page is newly a qualified lawyer and had always felt belittled by her brother and father who are both lawyers, so when she is given Jax's case she wants to prove to them that she can do it.
Jax and Page instantly rub each other up the wrong way with assumptions about each other causing the wrong kind of sparks. Jax assumes Page is a spoiled princess while Page takes some convincing over Jax's innocence because of his reputation.
Jax is definitely innocent and Page is nothing like a spoiled princess, so once the battle lines have faded the attraction begins to simmer and the two are on a mission to prove Jax's innocence.
A fast paced read with lots of chemistry in the mix. Great characters, loved Jax's brother too who brought humour into the plot and I immediately purchased Jude after I finished Jax's story.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, Jax grabbed me from the very beginning but thought it ended to quick with everything summarized or coming together all at once in the epilogue.
listened in audio which was brilliantly narrated.
I would definitely read more books in the series or by this author.
The first time Toby Hunter got arrested for defending Lilac Clarke’s honour, he was only fifteen years old, but he’d loved her from behind his black-rimmed glasses for as long as he could remember.
With a desperate need to protect her from a distance, one arrest turned to two, two soon turning into three, and before Toby knew what was happening, the sleepy village of Southwold was turning against him for daring to stand up for a girl like Lilac.
Beautiful Lilac with her flowers in her hair, her camera in her hands, and her sweet, pink, sugary-lipped kisses.
They could hate him for loving her all they wanted. Toby was a boy who did what was right, not what was easy, and he was always going to grow to be the man willing to give her what she deserved.
Even if that meant losing Lilac forever.

A girl like Lilac. A beautiful coming of age story and a second chance romance that is raw, with tragic moments, heartwarming, bittersweet and written in a way I am beginning to love about this author.
Victoria L James has the words and lays them down with precision. The flow is like being on a boat, setting off on calm waters then you feel every storm and wave that passes until you reach the calm again.
I loved Lilac and Toby's journey. A girl like Lilac is the sort of book you oooh and awe over and feel the ups and downs along with the characters.
Toby knew he loved Lilac at the age of seven, since he first saw her rolling in the grass, strawberry blonde hair in a tangled mess, horrible green socks and blue shoes, nothing matched but she made it seem like everything she was wearing was made for her. Toby's neighbor fascinated him, he gravitated to her as she did with him.
" She was like a ball of light in a dull grey world"
This is a beautiful story of a friendship that grows into love, with life tragedies along the way that rock their world.
"I'm not worth that kind of trouble"
"You're worth a war Lilac"
Friendships, bullies, and adolescence, first kisses, first dances, first intimate moments the whole journey was bliss.
"My body already knew her body. My hands already knew her skin. My tongue already knew her taste. Everything was instinctual like we had done this a thousand times before."
"We were beautiful and tragic all at once and I couldn't get enough"
Another book by this author I couldn't put down and a memorable journey.

Voted one of the Most Anticipated Romances of 2018 on GoodReads!
She was the one thing holding him together. Until she was gone.
And then there was whiskey.
Fallon Gentry has spent the last decade reliving one dark night in his head. The moment he lost the woman he loved when a single blink cascaded into a series of events that stole both of their lives. Now his nights are spent playing music in southern honky-tonks and nursing the memory of her the only way he knows how–at the bottom of a whiskey bottle.
A brief stint in Nashville, a hit song, and a brush with Hollywood couldn’t bring him closer to God, but when the ghost of Augusta Belle
Branson appears in his corner of another lonely dive bar late after dark, he’s forced to confront everything he thought he knew about that fateful night, and a few things he didn’t.
He’s her contradiction, she’s his salvation.
A firestorm of emotion consumes them when they come together after ten lost years, every moment more revealing, more unpredictable, more intoxicating than the next until the only reckoning left for Fallon is the one he must make with himself. But this time, fate may have left an after-burn too bitter to swallow. This time, he may lose his whiskey girl for good.
★★★ Whiskey Girl Buy Links ★★★
Whiskey Girl is like a slow sensual song, you sway along with the words and end with a happy contented sigh.
I loved Fallon with his southern drawl and melting words and Augusta Belle with her sassy attitude. I loved how Fallon used her full name, wrote her into his songs when she wasn't in his life and I could feel the love and adoration in all his words each time he spoke to Augusta Belle.
Whiskey Girl is a second chance romance and begins with Fallon on the road, living from his truck, a man with overgrown hair, beard, forever a whiskey bottle in his hand and a chip on his shoulder.
A musician going wherever the wind takes him.
Fallon once had a chance at stardom but threw it all away when he lost Augusta Belle who disappeared suddenly one night leaving him with only memories of their teenage years together.
It was like Augusta Belle left and so did his reason for doing anything but writing, playing, drinking and moving on from town to town, like his soul was searching.
The plot goes from present to past at first and is told in first person dual pov.
Fallon has a roaming musicians life with only his guitar and whiskey for comfort but when Augusta Belle finds him she well and truly injects herself back into Fallon giving him back life.
For 10 years Augusta Belles disappeared from Fallon's life and then the two are finally reunited again it was like stars finally aligning when the sassy Augusta Belle finally finds him and brings with her answers and secrets that need to be told.
Why did she disappear? where did she go? how did it take her so long to find him again?
"A man couldn't live without the sunshine. I knew; I'd been doing it day in and day out for too many years now"
Sounds more like the end to a story but it's just the beginning to a new road and life for both of them and the road behind them is just filled with what could have been's and Whiskey Girl begins with their new journey.
"She was silky and sensual, smoky on the lips, warm on the tongue, smooth on the way down. She was whiskey. And I was hooked"
A perfect swoon worthy read. I really enjoyed Whiskey Girl and loved the blissful happy ending.

There are three of them. Three boys. We’re friends, neighbors, our lives linked through disaster, fear and pain.
I love them all. Not sure I can live without them.
Can we just stay friends? Can we ignore the desire flaring when we’re around each other?
Can I kiss one and not the other?
I can’t choose. Don’t want to choose.
And I’m not sure they can, either.
This story will either end up in heartache, or as any story should: in a happy ending.

I liked it, well parts of it and didn't like it.
I am so on the fence with this book.
Three best friends, living in the same apartment block, Sydney, West, and Nate. Three teenagers who are from messed up homes. One has been abandoned and struggling to pay bills, one abused mentally and has OCD and one who is being deceived and abused in other ways.
Three teenagers in very messed up situations and the only thing that gives them sanity is their friendship with one another.
Then along comes Kash who becomes a tenant at Nate's home making the threesome friendship a four. Kash is running away from something and passing off as a 20-year-old when he is really much younger.
Three close friends but neither of them share they are struggling, what their secrets are and neither opens up to what is happening with each of them or what is happening once they are home behind closed doors, it's all cryptic.
The whole first part of this book gave me a headache, it was so cryptic it drove me mad and I nearly gave up more than once but struggled on.
Broken Compass is told in like in three parts, the first part is the friendships along with home and school life and the constant cryptic clues as to what each of them may be hiding. Second, the leaving home part and the drama's leading up to that and then lastly the development from friendship to more with all 4 of them and the sex scenes.
I have struggled with this and had to ponder on this plot.
This is my conclusion:
In previous books by this author you may have a male who is struggling with issues, he's broody, closed off and has obvious issues that others can see but they leave him to himself and support him however they can without knowing his problems or secrets that he clearly doesn't want to share and then the heroine comes along and slowly he begins and starts to open up, share parts of himself and this leads up to the relationship and the heroine helping him.
The author had to do this with 4 characters and near the end pull it all together so, in theory, it was 4 young person's struggles and their story's in one book.
I found this too much. It could have been broken down. It could have been done differently.
I enjoyed the end, it flowed better and I thought finally! and it was very hot but I still couldn't get over the fact these were teenagers in a foursome sex relationship?
I'm skeptical over this book, I didn't enjoy it and so it will have to be one of those books were other readers reach their own conclusions, but this is mine.

He was forbidden, my boss and incapable of loving me.
People talked about him, whispered about him in passing.
He was the king of his town.
And I was a visitor.
I was by no means a smart girl. Never loved with my head, always with my heart.
That fact alone almost killed me once.
I should have listened the second time around.
But the king of this small town, had me starving. Had me craving his taste.
My name is Kandi, and he called me his Kandiland.
The king declared I was his medicine, and with each dose, he became better and better.
He was the perfect liar.
And I was his perfect Kandi.
Together, we were explosive, and toxic in every way.

Another addictive story from T.L. Smith
I really enjoyed Kandiland, the story was fast paced with no parts dragged out and it contained a few twists and turns along the way.
Huxley is a brooding alpha male with a touch of dark, he's the king of the town Candy with ownership of almost everything from strip joints to properties.
Huxley is the hot king of Candy.
Kandi first enters the plot when she is making a new start following the death of her husband and what better place to replace her roots than her namesake, the little town of Candy.
Its lust at first sight for Huxley and he's a man who always gets what he wants and definitely doesen't like the word no.
Huxley offers Kandi a job and the additional offer of being his bed partner, he's a man who has never loved and claims to be incapable of love so he refuses anything more than just sex.
I liked Kandi she had a backbone and spoke her mind, her feisty attitude won Huxley the ice King over time and time again until the brooding Alpha began to thaw.
Huxley and Kandi sizzled, their chemistry was hot.
I thought the end was rushed and there were some cheesy lines "your my Kandiland" which made me roll my eyes but other than that Kandiland is a good plot and good read.

From the author who brought you A Thousand Boy Kisses comes the new emotional novel, A Wish For Us.
A story of music. A story of healing. A story of love conquering all.
Nineteen-year-old Cromwell Dean is the rising star of electronic dance music. Thousands of people adore him. But no one knows him. No one sees the color of his heart.
Until the girl in the purple dress. She sees through the walls he has built to the empty darkness within.
When Cromwell leaves behind the gray skies of England to study music in the South Carolina heat, the last thing he expects is to see her again. And he certainly doesn’t expect that she’ll stay in his head like a song on repeat.
Bonnie Farraday lives for music. She lets every note into her heart, and she doesn’t understand how someone as talented as Cromwell can avoid doing the same. He’s hiding from his past, and she knows it. She tries to stay away from him, but something keeps calling her back.
Bonnie is the burst of color in Cromwell’s darkness. He’s the beat that makes her heart skip.
But when a shadow falls over Bonnie, it’s up to Cromwell to be her light, in the only way he knows how. He must help her find the lost song in her fragile heart. He must keep her strong with a symphony only he can compose.
A symphony of hope.
A symphony of love.
A symphony of them.
A book worthy of more than five violet blue stars.
A wish for us consumed me until I was spent. I was emotionally drained and yet couldn't put it down.
A beautiful and breathtaking story that is flawlessly written, poetic, expressive and compelling.
A story of fate.
A boy who had lost his way, a young boy with a gift in music in so many forms, a boy who saw colours to notes, to sounds, a gift so unique but following the death of his father he lost what had once breathed life into him, Cromwell shut down and erected walls against his gift.
A wish for us is the story of Cromwell Dean, the young man with tattoos and a bad attitude, a British boy with a permanent chip on his shoulder and the girl who brought him back to life with her passion for music.
"her voice was violet blue. I closed my eyes it was my favourite colour to hear"
A beautiful heartwarming and heart breaking story that will leave you speechless. I cried, laughed, swooned, I have no doubt this will be one of the top reads in 2018 and one I don't think I can forget.
"Cromwell Dean was my warmth. The blazing soul that kept mine tethered to this life"
"I would forever chase the violet blue"
This is a story that needs to be read.
Sometimes a book will come along and unexpectedly blindside you, A Wish For Us is that book!

“The velvet tongue”
That’s what they hear
“The silent fixer”

It’s been known to happen
But the one truth they don’t know could get me killed.
It’s already gotten me thrown into the fire.
I may be the rising dark star of Chicago’s criminal underworld, but I’ve been warned,
and I have one chance to make things right, flying halfway around the world to do it.
Until one hot AF heiress gets in my way with an unforgettable kiss and a blast of gunfire, hurling us both into the eye of a Mediterranean hurricane, snaring us in the ultimate high stakes games
Our impulsive escape to a Greek island exposes cruel lies, sour truths, explosive passion…and bares our bitter souls
I was always told that actions speak louder than words,
and Adriana proved it to me
Yet there’s one thing that speaks even louder--
In my heart, on my hands.
Blood never lies, blood never plays games.
And neither do I
Not what I was expecting.
I became intrigued with Turo in the book Fury and the first few chapters I was still intrigued, however, it became a very long romance story.
Turo was a part of the Mafia, he had an element of danger and mystery and I was so looking forward to his story.
Cat Porter always writes quality, she leaves no stone upturned with her writing, she is very descriptive to the point you can almost taste and smell what is being described.
This is the story of Turo who is being sent on a mission to Greace by his Father who is head of the Mafia and while he is there falls for a beautiful woman Adriana.
The journey is enchanting and Adriana takes Turo on all the sights, explains the history of the breathtaking Island and their whirlwind romance develops.
There's story's of myth's legends and tales, history and a beautiful description of the food and the Island from Adriana.
From the moment I met him I could feel the earth under me giving way. A wild landslide. A landslide I was powerless to stop.
Adri was a creature of the bright sun and the velvet night. She evoked a new desire I never thought I had in me.
This is a beautiful romance story but for me lacked the element of danger and angst that drew me to Cat Porters writing in the first place. I got bored with the history and descriptions but appreciated the knowledge.
Around 75%, finally! some action when kidnappers where involved in the plot and I eventually got the excitement I crave in a book but in-between and leading up to this point all I can say is, it was very beautiful, but not for me.
Other characters intrigued me more, because it's the bad guys I love to read about but Turo didn't come across all that bad at all, he was romantic, swoon worthy and although he said all the right romantic words my fascination for him had fizzled out.
Cat writes beautiful and poetic words and sensual sex scenes, I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a summer or lazy day read, there isn't as much Mafia action as I thought there would be.
Grab yourself some strawberries and Turo

The new series is set in Vermont. True North is populated by the tough, outdoorsy mountain men that populate the Green Mountain State. They raise cows and they grow apples. They chop a lot of wood, especially when they need to blow off steam. (Beards are optional but encouraged.)
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.
The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.
At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.
Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.
They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.
My second book by Sarina Bowen, I am loving this author writing
Completely engrossed from start to finish and although I listened to this on audio which was brilliant by the way, the flow was great. The right amount of angst, drama, hotness and Grumpy farmer Griff I loved him.
Griff Shipley had a promising football career in college he was one of those guys and he and Audrey had a one night stand just before the end of their time there but instead of Griff moving on his father died and he returned to his farm to work for the family.
This story is bittersweet for both characters and they are a perfect match.
Audrey, according to Griff was a girl who seemed to have everything, Griff called her a princess but looks can be deceiving. Audrey had an interfering overbearing mother who treated Audrey like she was never good enough she had high expectations of Audrey and was trying to make Audrey into a product of herself so Audrey broke away, went her own way and went to culinary school.
Audrey landed her first job at a company called BPG and instead of spending time in the kitchen like she hoped they sent her to look for products they could use in their restaurants.
Audrey and Griff meeting up again was a little bit frosty, Griff hated the big company's who didn't pay farmers their worth and he spread the word to other farmers that a rep was around and in the area. No-one would see Audrey which made her job difficult when she was trying to impress her new boss.
I loved this story and the gradual build up to Griff and Audrey's reunion and it was so hot.
I would definitely read more in this series the Shipley family had a great feel to them and I would definitely read more about the other characters.

It's ten years later, and we're still living separate lives. While I know she isn't comfortable with my lifestyle after everything she’s been through, I can't be without her anymore.
I need her.
She's my wife.
She's my heartbeat.
She's my every breath.
She's my everything.
I want to know every detail of her life. I want to be part of it all. I want to work as hard to get there as she did to get here.
She's always been my girl—even at the age of eight. As I face her now, there's no doubt she'll be mine until I draw my last breath.
It's time for our forever to begin.
You could say I needed this book like the next breath.
Finishing book one I don't think I even had a good night's sleep with everything going around in my head.
Xander's story is finally told, and although I have followed this series it felt like a separate story until they all meet up with the rest of the band at the end.
This story could be read as a standalone, however, the last part in end chapters meeting up with the other guys and the things that are revealed to them about Xander and Tera' s relationship over the years and Xander's double life could leave you confused.
This is a good Rock-star series so I recommend reading it, plus if you use KU it's available.
I loved and hated the journey, this is one rollercoaster of emotions. I questioned the characters morals and integrity, I felt every high and low, I had lots of OMG and swoon moments. Anne Mercier really took me on one heck of a ride with Xander and Tera's story.
I'm glad I read It, I'm glad I actually and finally got to see the real Xander behind the jokes and innuendos. The wait was worth it and I took on Anne's comments prior to reading about not judging the character's, it was hard not to do that but by not judging I left room for understanding.
This is one roller-coaster read I recommend.
Is there cheating? I know this is a biggie for some readers but in my opinion no and this would depend on how you look at this, I personally felt for the characters, understood the characters and this allowed me to have an understanding to their circumstance, Xander loved Tera with all his heart, did I like that they went through this? No.

As Tavo unbuckles the seatbelt, he bends over me, and I become statue-like, holding my breath, not wanting to break the spell. His minty breath entices me, and his scruff is right there, begging for me to reach out and pet his chiseled cheek. Stick my finger in that cleft in his chin. Admire him. But he’s not just a treat for the eyes, he smells sublime, like warm leather in the woods. Like rough reins that were put away cleaned and well-oiled after use.
I’m in that unsure state between awake and dreaming, where nothing makes sense. I know how to buckle and unbuckle my own seatbelt, thank you very much, but having him so close? Hot tamale.
