![]() His name is Beat, and I should hate him. Bound, blindfolded and bruised, I'm tied in his basement, waiting for the men who stripped me from clothes and humanity to collect his debt to them. Me. His name is Nate and I should hate him, but I don't. I'm not supposed to know his real name, even worse, I'm not supposed to care. He is nothing to me but means to an end. The plan is simple: break free, collect the pieces of my broken soul, kill the bastards and run away. His name is Nathaniel Thomas Vela, and I've never seen his face, though I hear that it's beautiful. Behind the rugged and handsome exterior, there's a quiet murderer, a killer who thinks guns are for pussies and ends people with his bare hands. His name doesn't matter, neither does his face, but what does matter is my heart. And right now, sadly, it's his. Blood to Dust is a standalone, full-length novel. It contains graphic violence and adult situations some may find offensive. ![]() Another LJ Shen book I loved this authors books to me are like chocolate when on a diet, I crave them. Edgy, gritty, contains violence, Blood to Dust is dark, erotic and full of suspense. Prescott; A good girl from the posh side of the tracks who found her prince who evidentally turned out not so charming. Taken, beaten, contained, tied up, time is ticking until Camden her villain of an ex who is obsessed with her returns to take back what is his with a threat to kill her for running and crossing him. Beat or Nate, ex con, served time with Godfrey Camden's father, hired to watch over Prescott until Camden returns. Beat wasn't aware his assignment meant keeping a girl chained to a bed for weeks. Beat had wanted more for himself when he left prison, instead he finds himself cleaning for a wealthy and randy woman and at Godfrey's beck & call but his options are limited for an ex con. Beat first comes across as heartless and as ruthless as Camden, his father and his men but Prescott is clever, she's cunning, shes fearless and after finding Nates diary from his time in prison has an inside view of her captors mind and begins to plot. Prescott's reasons for escape isn't just freedom, it's revenge, revenge for what she lost, revenge for every beating, revenge for every rape she endured and to find her brother. Nates walls begin to fall as time passes, alliances are made and the need for revenge agreed. Blood to dust is more than a captor and captee story, I found Prescott and Nate's story moving at times although unconventional, the words poetic and the plot exciting. love can develop in the most unusual surroundings and this bond ignited the perfect fuel for the revenge craved and birthed hope of new beginnings in their world of chaos. I loved the characters, the plot had danger, hotness, darkness and humour, it was captivating and exciting like all this authors books. Contains scenes of rape, violence and is by no means a hearts and flowers story, this is LJ Shen after all. Told in dual pov, leads to a hea and is a standalone (not part of a series). A perfect BBF bad boy read. I listened on audio with male narrator which was good.
