Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.
Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.
WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.
Dark, disturbing, filled with suspense.
This book is one of those that has been on my kindle a long time and I finally got around to reading it and I am so glad I did.
I love dark reads for their ability to shock, keep you in suspense and especially when the plot has youe you gripping your kindle and flipping your pages eagerly.
Captive in the dark was probably one of the first of its kind in dark romances, since then there has been a lot of books similar to this and I have read quit a few of them where captee falls for captor and vice versa.
This is a story of a young girl, Olivia or Livvie chosen like a pawn in a game of revenge.
A story of captor falling for captee and questions of...is this Stockholm syndrome or does the victim/hostage really fall for her captor.
"Each day I was more vulnerable than the last. Each day he stripped away more of my sense of self".
Caleb's job is to train the girl, make her compliant, a slave.
12 years of planning has gone into Caleb and the man who saved him getting their revenge and their only way in to his circle is to introduce a girl, a girl especially selected by Caleb, a virgin who will be trained as a submissive and to get her to the point where she is ready for them to offer her for auction.
A girl pretty and a virgin, an enticing temptation for a wealthy and evil man who made his money from the sex trade, their hope is that their target will take the bait and give them a way in to get nearer to the man they seek revenge from for killing their family's.
Captive Is the dark is dark and gritty has scenes of sex and desires and is not for the faint hearted like most dark reads.
It's a slow burn to any form of tender relationship and understanding between Caleb and Livvie and near the end you can almost feel Caleb wavering, will he go through with his plan? Will he chose Livvie over the man who rescued him as a boy and trained him for this purpose as repayment for saving him?
Caleb himself has a gruesome backstory, beaten and raped as a child until he was saved by the fman who he now feels indebted to.
"He was the monster no one thought to look for in the light of day".
"There was just something about her, something he wanted to taste and touch. Something he wanted to claim".
I am looking forward to the conclusion in this story and crossing everything for a hea for both Caleb and Olivia.
Told in third person and a duet.Free in Amazon.
BOOK TWO OF THE DARK DUET
The exciting, titillating, and action-filled conclusion to Captive in the Dark.
What is the price of redemption?
Rescued from sexual slavery by a mysterious Pakistani officer, Caleb carries the weight of a debt that must be paid in blood.
The road has been long and fraught with uncertainty, but for Caleb and Livvie, it’s all coming to an end.
Can he surrender the woman he loves for the sake of vengeance?
Or will he make the ultimate sacrifice?
It seemed to Caleb, the nature of human beings revolved around one empirical truth: we want what we cannot have. For Eve, it was the fruit of the forbidden tree. For Caleb, it was Livvie.
What was I thinking after book one?...
not this I can tell you.
I thought I had read this type of story a few times before, that it was just like the other books, different characters same story-line, same old... captor falls for cap-tee and vice versa but how wrong was I with my surmising of how this story would go, I was way off...
For all those who said WHAT! I can't believe you haven't read this yet? thank you.
I read book one and thought I still don't get it? what is all the fuss about? and then I read this and THIS is what all the fuss is about.
What a story!
When the beginning of this book begins with Livvie being free and interrogated I must admit I was a little confused, what happened? how has it gone from Livvie still being held captive and being prepared for an auction to this? but then each chapter changes from present to past in both Caleb and Livvie's pov and all is revealed.
Captive in the dark and Seduced in the dark is such a gripping and intense story that I would recommend, it's dark and disturbing definitely not for the flincher's among us but it's so cleverly written.
One negative would be "give me more!, one chapter of this couple finally getting a hea wasn't enough, I've just been through the ringer with these two and I get one chapter of happiness?.
I don't want to give anything away, if you love dark reads this is one you have to experience for yourself.
