For MC romance you simply cannot get any better than this. The white Prince and the Cartel Princess. It made no sense. Two people who were never meant to be... Two people ruled by their fathers who despite skin color, race, background, and prejudices fell in love. Two people who were each other's light in the dark. The characters are complex, the plot is intense and the whole story from start to finish is gripping. Darkness Embraced is written flawlessly by Tillie Cole who has the imagination of a genius when it comes to dark romance. "My heart was kindling. You were the naked flame that caused it to ignite" My only negative is there was quite a lot of going back in time to when Tanner and Adelita first met before Tanner joined the hangmen, so a good chunk of this book is in Italics (font) which I didn't like on my kindle. I can understand this in passages where it went back to memories while in the present but these were full chapters? Apart from this, I loved this book, which reminded me so much of a Romeo and Juliette kind of tale. I was counting down the pages and couldn't wait to get the the part were Tanner and Adelita where finally reunited after being apart and even after this it was so intense, full of action, drama, danger, blood-shed with the Club at war against the Cartel and the KKK. Darkness Embraced is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. Told in multiple pov, Tanner, Adelita and the club President Styx "Live Free. Ride Free.
