![]() She calls it a devil’s bargain. I call it a deal she can’t refuse. I was owed a debt and I expected payment. That payment? One night in my bed. My rules. The debt cleared, and she could walk away. There are worse things. And besides, debtors can’t be choosers. The night started as it should. She obeyed as she should. But then something happened. Something I was wholly unprepared for. And what I saw changed everything. I broke my own rules after that. And I didn’t keep my end of the bargain. Because walking away was no longer an option I would grant her, no matter the cost. 𝐈 𝐬𝐢𝐩 𝐦𝐲 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐬. 𝐀 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬. 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐲. 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕. 𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒆𝒔. 𝑰𝒕'𝒔 𝒂 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒍'𝒔 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒔𝒆... A story of a hard business man and a humble young woman, an completely unexpected romance. Melissa is a good natured person, she works for a charity and keeps herself to herself, she has very limited friends. When Melissa returns home one night to find men in her apartment, she is taken to Hawk, a business man and is then given a proposition she wasn't' going to refuse. Despite her childhood past of abuse while in care and being let down by her foster sister who didn't help her at the time before she ran, Melissa being the person she is, not wanting to see anyone hurt, accepts the offer to pay off her foster sister's gambling debts to keep her safe. Melissa agrees to be auctioned off to the highest bidder for one night to whoever has the highest bid. Although Hawk is the one putting her up for sale, something about Melissa draws him to her and he places his own bid. Hawk is a ruthless business man, not only does he auction off willing women for nights of sex with high rollers, he is also the owner of a casino, his character is dark, brooding and sexy. "𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝. 𝐀 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐤 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐝 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐫". What I didn't expect is Hawk also having a Scottish heritage and further along in the story following the death of his father has to return home, he is the head of the clan the Leard and has a heritage to fulfil, there's a lot more to Hawk you will discover as the plot progresses. What should have been one night turns into more and although Hawk isn't a kind or endearing man at first, Melissa has bigger demons to face when it seams her past has finally found her despite her changing her name and going into hiding, so Hawk at first was the lesser of two evils. What begins as a dark read that holds back no punches completely transforms into a beautiful love story. I enjoyed it, didn't' want to put it down, a story with a dark beginning that blossoms into a heartwarming ending. ARC RECEIVED FOR REVIEW PURPOSES
