![]() I didn’t know darkness and evil lurked inside me until I had to murder in order to survive. Forced to become my own worst enemy. With so much blood on my hands, I was surprised I could still see my own skin. I killed. I tortured. I loved… I played God while I was rotting in Hell. Thriving on control and power was the only way I knew how to live. There were no other options. If you weren’t my friend, you were my foe. If you weren’t with me, you were against me. Traitors, as I called them. There were no imaginary lines. I’d crossed them all. No boundaries. No second chances. No redemption. Not for me. For them. For anyone. Only for her… She loved me. Always convinced I was a saint, never believing I was just another sinner. A fucking monster. Until it was too late. Except, I didn’t choose this life. It. Chose. Me. Standalone contemporary romance. ![]() El Santo swallowed me whole. From the first pages I was gripped by the intensity, the darkness, the scenes that made me squirm, it sucked me in and even now I have finished I feel like I can't let go. This is no ordinary love story, it's not intended to be and so cleverly written by M Robinson an author who hasn't failed me yet to deliver exactly what I need in a book. Amira is a nine year old girl who witnesses the massacre of her family in her home. Damien is a young soldier in a coumbian communist war, groomed by a leader who is cold, evil and calculated and Demon is expected to be his byproduct. Damien and Amira meet in the darkest night of both their lives, a night that kills them but also saves them. After the deaths of Amira's family members, a family who's only sin's have been an act of anti-communism, Amira comes out of hiding, Amira and Damien's eyes connect and you could say there's a instant connection. Damien is ordered to kill Amira but fakes her death and later returns for her. A boy who turns into a cruel, unrelenting and evil man to his enemies only has one soft spot and Amira owns it. "I may have saved her life but she kept me alive. None of it made sense, our connection was solely linked through darkness". The journey in this story, it broke me, soothed me, claimed me all of the above and more, and Damien? I hated and loved him as did Amira at times. The princess The hero The monster Damien was a paradox of contradictions. His words always spoke one thing, but his actions always proved another. M.Robinson has yet again left me in awe, I didn't think any book could move me like road to nowhere did but with a similar feel to that story, It did move me over and over. Looking forward to more in this story and counting down the days. "He was the beginning to my end or maybe the end to my beginning".
