![]() ***He wants a second chance. I want a divorce. To get what I want, I’ll have to give him what he does.*** From New York Times & USA Today bestselling author, Nicole Williams: The only benefit I want from my ex is a divorce. We got married for all the wrong reasons. The one thing we got right was our separation. I should have known better than to think I could bet on forever with a guy like Canaan Ford. Everything about him screamed impermanent, from his wild eyes to his restless soul. When I left him and the small town I’d spent my whole life in, I swore I’d never go back. Never only turned out to be five years. Canaan claims he’s changed, but he hasn’t—same knowing smile, same rough demeanor, same body crafted from sin and sinew. And yet, something is different. He thinks this is his chance for redemption. My disagreement comes in the form of divorce papers dropped in his lap. He refuses to sign them. Unless . . . He wants a month to prove himself to me—that’s his offer. One month to make me fall in love with him again and if I don’t, he’ll sign the papers. As much as I want to say no, I agree. I can suffer my ex for a short amount of time if that’s what it takes to be free of him once and for all. I fell for him once; I won’t make that same mistake twice. He says we’re not over. I say we were over before we got started. Only one of us can be right, and I can’t let it be him. ![]() A second chance romance. The Title? I don't think it suited this book at all. It suggests something like friends with benefits but sleeping with your ex, an arrangement. This wasn't that kind of story at all and that title belittles the heartwarming and moving moments within this book. A beautiful story of regrets, heartache, promises of change and fighting for what's important. "You fight for what's important. That's the way life is. And you are worth every fight I have in me. " Canaan was a fighter, Maggie got to a point were she couldn't see him go through the torture of what he was putting himself through any more, following the death of his brother, the fights, the drinking so she left, she left?, didn't see maybe it was a cry for help, her reasoning was she couldn't watch him put himself through that anymore so Maggie left her home town and left for a city, turning her back on her childhood best friend, first love and husband. Teenagers in love, married at 18 this is a beautiful story of fate, timing and second chances, Nicole Williams captivated my heart with Canaan's story. The night Maggie left Canaan promised to change but she left anyway, Canaan is a product of the saying sometimes it takes losing what you love to finally making that change. Five years later Maggie returns to the small town were she was brought up under sad circumstances, the death of her aunt, a constant in her life who had been there for her after the death of her parents. Canaan completely bowled me over with his revelations, his persistence for Maggie and his confessions. Canaan Ford takes pride of place on my BBF shelf. I swooned so much at the words of Canaan and his actions & Maggie, did she deserve him? I didn't think so. Maggie yes I liked her but some of her words and actions not so much, she was such a frustrating character while Canaan laid it all out there thought she hung on the moon, Maggie held her cards close to her chest with her indecision. Exes with benefits is a really good second chance romance that will have you crossing your fingers for the hero not because Maggie deserves it but because he will capture your heart and you just want him to find that happiness and that happiness is his childhood sweetheart , first and last love Maggie. Told in First person Maggie's Pov has heartwarming and hot moments and leads to a heartwarming HEA Arc received for review purposes ![]() NOW LIVE!
