![]() At first glance, I’m nothing out of the ordinary. I am a daughter. A sister. A friend. When you look at me you won’t see anything that warrants suspicion. I don’t look like a criminal. My name is Hannah Whalen, but most people know me as freed0mov3rdr1v3, or “Freedom Overdrive”—one of the world’s most prolific and notorious hacktivists. My goal—my purpose—is to shed light on the evil that lurks behind the corporate and government lies we have been force-fed for too long. My story begins with the best possible intention. Devoting my life to exposing the corrupt. The dishonest. The unethical. For that, they label me a cyber-terrorist. Wanted by the FBI, I’ve always been one step ahead. Until I fell in love. Because I’m sleeping with the man who’s hunting me. And he has no idea that I am his prey. Now I have to decide what’s more important: my freedom or my heart. ![]() REVIEW Secrets and Lies What started off as a slow burn read really caught fire to the end. Up until just over half way my interest was finally being piqued other that just the curiosity that had me turning the pages up to that point the suspense became gripping. Hannah is just an ordinary woman but also secretly a hacker, her plan is to take down all those that caused hurt to her family after her father died and her sister was left with disability' after a car accident that never should of happened on a road that was dangerous but nothing was done due to money cuts. Hannah is out for revenge on those that should of prevented the death of her father and injury of her sister, the pharmaceutical companies, the law firm that didn't help them, all those she feels have done wrong, she uses her skills for justice, exposes them, takes them down, shes like vigilante in the cyber world. Mason is an FBI agent trying to crack the case of Freedom overdrive which is the code name for the hacker destroying companies after their crimes are exposed but what the hacker is doing is also criminal and Mason won't stop until they are found. A chance meeting in a cafe becomes not only a romance but a whirlwind of lies and hidden agendas on Hannah's part and Mason becomes the innocent party, he is just a man falling in love with a person who isn't really who they fully claim to be. Lies are always exposed in the end and mason is good at his job to be able to put clues together but he doesn't want to believe the clues and what has been right under his nose. Gripping and intense in the latter part of the plot and I felt with only a few more chapters It could of been concluded but I discovered this is a duet and ends on a cliffhanger. I am hoping book two isn't as slow going in the first half as this was and the best is saved for last again. I enjoyed Exploited it was a good plot told in dual pov and any reader who loves this kind of plot with cyber crime and suspense would love it. A few quick hot scenes thrown in and interesting characters. I may read book 2 but I'm not overly excited or too eager about doing so. ![]()
