![]() The first book in a brand new YA/NA crossover series from l. a. cotton When seventeen-year-old Eloise Stone finds herself half way across the world, moving into her Uncle's pool house, she expects things to be ... awkward. She doesn't expect to come face-to-face with the boy from last summer. The boy that made her feel things she'd never felt before. But a year is a long time, and Lo isn’t the same girl she was then. Besides, they’re family now. It’s weird. Maverick Prince acts as if he doesn’t remember her, treating Lo like nothing more than an annoying younger sister, and not in a ‘he cares’ way, just in a ‘he’s an arsehole’ way. One thing‘s for sure, he isn’t just dangerous for her sanity—he’s hazardous for her heart. Lo thought moving to Wicked Bay was the worst of her problems, but as life begins to unravel around her, she’s going to find out it’s only the beginning ![]() What an exciting and gripping start to a new series. Brilliant!, I clung on to the end with bated breath. A high school romance but so much more to it, it's complicated. So.Much.More. Lo, short for Eloise has just moved from the UK with her dad and into her Uncles home until their own home is ready. Lo's father is originally from America fell in love, moved to England with Elois's mother. Tragedy strikes when Lo's brother and mother are killed in a car accident and Lo is in hospital four months. A new start, a new life, easier said than done especially when she discovers the boy she almost spent the night with on a visit to the states previously is her Uncles son in law who she is now sharing a house with. Maverick is cool, mysterious, broody with a dark vibe, the boy in school that turns heads. Maverick is a guy who seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder and a lot of supressed anger but it's never revealed why and I feel this is the key to who Maverick is. The moment Lo and Maverick meet the air crackles between them. I loved Wicked beginnings, so full of suspense, every page I was hoping for answers or more clues to the mystery that is Maverick, the family, unspoken events that no one speaks of and other things that happen with some of the characters in school, whispers, narrowed glances, stares and cruel games. I completely got into the head of Lo and the plot. There's only parts of the puzzle in this book and you get hints along the way that there is a whole bigger picture, Lo is in the dark still in this book and I am so eager for the light switch to go on. LA Cotton had me both wanting to reach the end hoping to find out more but savouring Lo and Mavericks chemistry. Wicked beginnings is book one with the continuation to follow. Told in Lo's pov. A brilliant plot within a high school setting, some adult scenes and stacked with mystery & suspense. Fans of Tijan's Fallen Crest will also love this and LA Cotton's previous series Chastity Falls.
