![]() I’m a motherless son to a father who hates me. Fury has lived and breathed in my black heart for so long, it’s a part of my soul now. Immediately you are thrust into Samuel's young life. The life of a young boy without love, a young boy who grows to hate and has a whole lot of bitterness and anger towards his father. Samuel's only calm is his twin sister and his friend Patience, the mayor's daughter who visits when her mother is visiting his father. Samuel witnesses things no young boy should see, hear's things no young ears should hear and those things mold him into a mountain of anger and hate and the need to be part of the Elite. The frightened boy. The boy who just wants love. The boy with no mother. The murderer Samuel's story begins as sympathetic for a young boy and sad, it claims you, and then you are taken to his older years, the young man who needs to dominate In the bedroom, the need to fight and his determination to get into the Elite, to destroy his father, the same man who he feels destroyed him as a boy. The plot is gripping and as with the previous stories Samuel who is now Wrath is given a task to gain entry into the Elite, a task you begin to question if he will complete it or not, could he be that cruel, is revenge that important? She's a target, a task, a mountain I'm going to have great satisfaction in conquering. Repeatedly. Until I'm done with her. I'm not sure if this story runs parallel with the other books or all the events are in order, there was no mention of the girls from the previous books, Lillian though, the so-called school counselor was definitely up to her usual tricks and it felt like it's all happening at the same time. A little confusing but I'm sure it will all unfold and damn, there's four books to go. This book is not for the faint-hearted, there are BDSM scenes, violence and rape content, it's definitely darker, I feel like I'm jumping down the rabbit hole at this point shouting yippee, like a kid on a slide. I wish the characters were older, I've said this from the beginning, I struggle with actions of men when in reality they are high school boys and I actually forget at times until class or lessons are mentioned. We're a brotherhood, and we've bonded. We're In this... whatever the fuck this is... together. That sentence, I didn't feel this in this book like the others, Samuel faced most of the battles on his own and didn't lean on his new so-called brothers like previous characters. Each book has been different because each book is by a different author but with the same plot weaving through it and I am looking forward to what ENVY brings next. I have high hopes for these boys to strengthen their bond and take down the higher Elite, there were no signs of this yet but that alone has me chomping at the bit for more. This book cannot be read as a standalone, it does finish with a cliffy, the series needs to be read in order. Told in first person dual pov. Arc received for review purposes
