![]() Chloe’s scarred face makes her the school’s freak. Her reflection is a constant reminder of how she got them. The man who scarred her haunts not only her dreams, but also her reality. Some nightmares don’t go away in the daylight. Two men stand up to save her from the nightmares. Both are men of the mafia, waiting behind a door she doesn’t want to open. Amo the soldier and Lucca the underboss. The Beast and the Boogieman. Who will she choose? ![]() Chloe's story Previous books to be read first. Not a standalone. Chloe is the girl who seems afraid of her own shadow, her secret haunts her. Was she really in an car accident? what really happened that night she woke up in hospital with scars, her dad changing and unable to look at her. I'm enjoying this young mafia series that's within a school setting and Chloe is still a mystery to me although I have just finished this book. I'm looking forward to the next book now that I have a bit more background on Chloe, Amo and Lucca and presume all will be revealed. These are Chloe's thoughts told in third person and most of the scenes have already bee told in previous books with a few extra and it leads up-to what I hope is Chloe getting more acquainted with Lucca or Amo, I don't care at this point this girl needs someone to help her get her confidence back and a backbone. . Chloe as a character?; I'm on the fence, although I know something bad really happened to her, I still found her a to be an overly timid and whiny character also annoying, whereas previous female characters had a bit of backbone. looking forward to the next book, Amo has become protective and head over heals in love with Chloe, hes protected her in school and fallen for her and Lucca is the scary bad guy, Nero's brother who is older and second in command in the mafia and someone Chloe although afraid of him can't help but feel drawn to him, so which way will it go, I'm looking forward to seeing how it all play's out. *I Listened to this book on audio which I found exaggerated Chloe's whining and the male sneer voice the narrator sometimes spoke in reminded me of the witch from the wizard of OZ. I did not enjoy this audio compared to previous books with a different narrator and tried to concentrate on the plot, I also prefer first person not third. ![]() Buy links for Amazon!
