Excerpt 1 – The Billionaire’s Secret Kiss by Ivy Layne
I was late. I'm never late.
Twenty minutes to get to campus. I had a two o’clock appointment with my thesis advisor. Oliver was trying to see if he could get me put back on our project even though I wasn't currently enrolled in the master’s program.
It was a long shot, and I didn't want to blow it by being late.
I hated to interrupt a meeting, but I’d told my bosses I needed a few hours off this afternoon, and I had to hand over my charge before I left. Cradling baby Rosie against my shoulder, I nudged the door to the office open with my hip, saying, "I'm so sorry to interrupt, but it's one forty and –"
I looked up and my breath froze in my lungs.
Noah Endicott was sitting across the room. He lounged in the chair opposite Vance's desk, his brown eyes wide with surprise and fixed on mine.
That was all he said. Just Ella.
I wasn't much better. I didn't say anything. I just stared.
It was Noah, but not my Noah. My Noah wore faded T-shirts with geeky engineering jokes. My Noah's dark hair was long enough to fall into his eyes. My Noah had a sweet smile.
My Noah had broken my heart.
Excerpt 2 – Undeniable by K.C. Falls
Kurt sat with his back to her—just another tall, blond gringo sipping his morning coffee to take away the misty chill of the mountains. He held his newspaper close to his face and the grin he couldn't stop. He could hear every word exchanged.
She sounded just like he remembered her—all sass and spice. Here was a woman. His woman. And she was all he had ever wanted. His mate, never forgotten.
"Well, you were educated abroad. So tell me . . . What would be the I.Q. of a rock?"
"Doña, the rock has no intelligence. So it would be nought."
"Your British schooling is showing, but that's correct. A rock has zero intelligence. So, when I say that your cousin Analis is as 'dumb as a box of rocks' you now know what I mean!"
"Jefa, this is the fourth cousin you don't like. I am running out of cousins."
"Don't bullshit me, Juan. You have an endless supply of cousins. All I need is someone who can follow simple directions. This is cooking, Juan. We're not building the Panama Canal here. I want a girl or even a guy—if your asshole-macho-culture would permit—who can follow a few stinking directions. Why is this so hard?"
"Jefa . . ."
"Stop with the Jefa, the Doña and all the rest. You can grovel 'til the cows come home and it won't change the fact that this is the fourth barely grown girl you've served up who cannot carry out something that my kid could do while plugged into his video games, eating a sandwich and scratching his balls all at the same time. Dios mio, Juan. Are you the only one in your vast family who inherited any brains at all?"
Kurt wondered if he had heard right. Did she say my kid? A son?
Ignite by Amity cross
Book 11 of the beat and pulse series. Can be read as a stand-alone, leads to he a, told in dual povs.
Another good fighter romance from Amity Cross.
Ali is a girl who is bullied by the more popular girls or women who should know better in her office, she's a lone not by choice, doesn't stand out in a crowd but fades into the background. Alison lives alone and has no-one in her life.
Overhearing the other girls at work talk about the fighters and cage fighting her curiosity is piqued and she goes to see what it's all about at an underground fight.
Liam or Blade as he's called rescues Ali when she finds herself in a dangerous situation.
Liam is drawn to Ali maybe it's their similarities, both alone both afraid of being left alone again if they commit to anyone. Liam for that reason doesn't commit to anyone, only has one night stands and keeps people at a distance.
Liam begins to Ali confidence and she starts to blossom. Liam still has his fears.
A good story, I suppose the moral is taking a chance against your fears and fighting for what's in your gut.
Ignite is Hot in all the right places, great characters, a story of fate and another enjoyable read from Amity Cross.
Ignite is part of Dark desires box set. This book alone would have me reading the box set.
