Mike Murphy is the new cop in Town.
He makes me crazy in all the right ways.
So crazy that I lose my filter around him, not to mention my ability to function like a normal person.
The attraction between us is undeniable and something we can't ignore.
But there's a secret that threatens to come between us. When we uncover more than we should, things become dangerous.
Will we be able to walk away, or will the quest to find the truth be too tempting?
Not what I expected at all, not from the blurb, not from the cover, I was surprised.
The main characters meet fairly early on in the book and there's instant chemistry.
Sydney is moving back to her childhood town of Salem following her Grandfathers death and intends on taking over his practice as a vet. On her first night home Sydney meets Mike who is the town cop. Mike is keeping an eye out on her Grandfathers place while it's empty.
There's a rom-com feel at this point in the story and I loved how it was going, Sydney had no mouth filter when nervous and she was all kinds of all over the place whenever Mike was around, she was funny and Mike is all kinds of swoon.
The two become an item quite quickly and after receiving a note and a coin from her Grandfather in his will which is mysterious and like a historic treasure hunt of sorts they both begin a journey together.
This story was quite unique and anyone who loves a mysterious kind of plot would love this book, it had a lot of interesting content and exciting moments, a trail of hidden secret messages and clues that Sydney and Mike follow, however, it wasn't for me, I was bored and I kept losing interest.
There are hot moments, funny moments which I loved but the whole Nancy Drew or Agatha Christy thing it had going on isn't my kind of thing. Three days it took me to read it and I'm the sort of reader who gobbles a book up in one sitting normally.
Not for me but it doesn't mean it's not for you.

There are three things you need to know about Ashley Winston: 1) She has six brothers and they all have beards, 2) She is a reader, and 3) She knows how to knit.
Former beauty queen, Ashley Winston’s preferred coping strategy is escapism. She escaped her Tennessee small town, loathsome father, and six brothers eight years ago. Now she escapes life daily via her one-click addiction. However, when a family tragedy forces her to return home, Ashley can’t escape the notice of Drew Runous—local Game Warden, bear wrestler, philosopher, and everyone’s favorite guy. Drew’s irksome philosophizing in particular makes Ashley want to run for the skyscrapers, especially since he can’t seem to keep his exasperating opinions— or his soulful poetry, steadfast support, and delightful hands— to himself.
Pretty soon the girl who wanted nothing more than the escape of the big city finds she’s lost her heart in small town Tennessee.
Beauty and the Mustache is book #4 in the Knitting in the City series, and book #0.5 in the Winston Brothers series. Each book is a standalone, full length (110k words), contemporary romantic comedy novel, and follows the misadventures and exploits of seven friends in Chicago, all members of the same knitting group.
Catch up on the series here: http://pennyreid.ninja/audiobooks/
Drew is poetry in motion
THIS BOOK IS BLOODY AWESOME. Penny Reid's words sometimes blow me away.
I laughed hard, felt the sad times and swooned so much from Drew's words.
I was immediately hooked on this book, I was laughing from the first chapter and had plenty of giggles throughout. Beauty and the Mustache is a brilliantly balanced heartwarming story with humor in the mix.
The rabid raccoon scene, oh boy, days, weeks on now after listening to that scene and I still laugh at it, I think I told everyone at work about that part which had them laughing too.
I listened to this on audio and boy did the narrator make this feel real, the southern drawl and the characters, she really did them justice, at times it was like I was right there with the characters.
This book can be read as a standalone, has a perfect balance of humor and emotion. I loved it and would definitely read or listen more, especially the Winston brothers I love them already and have only had snippets of them. I feel like I am late to the party with this series and have so much to catch up on, and I want to devour the Winston brothers.
Every woman deserves a Drew in their lives, he's a new BBF of my shelf for sure.
She didn’t believe in fairy tales… until she fell for a prince.
Single mother, Leia Lawrence didn't have a storybook childhood.
Now? Dating… men…? She’d rather stay in her tower of solitude.
Until her path crosses with the heir to the British throne.
He should be the bad boy the press portray him as.
He should be as arrogant as the rich elites she despises.
He should be easy to walk away from.
Oh, boy, he isn’t.
Oliver is nothing like the man she expects. Smart, funny and caring, he could push through every defence she has in place.
But one passing moment could change everything. It could bring the press to her door and unbury secrets she thinks are long dead.
What will he be willing to do to protect her?
She has nowhere left to turn, except to her prince.
The only thing she can do is wait and see if he’ll choose to protect his country… or her
Not all Cinderella's want to go to the ball and not all prince charming's get to rescue their chosen Princess, especially ones who don't want to be rescued.
Tabloid Princess is a rag's to riches story or it has the potential to be. A British Royal modern romance, set in the UK.
Leia Lawrence has spent the last seven years protecting herself from a traumatic childhood, Leia dedicates her life helping those less fortunate, hoping to give someone a chance for a fresh start just like someone once helped her.
Leia isn't looking for love, she isn't a dreamer or a woman on a mission to find true love, Leia is just a young woman happy to be alive with food on the table and a roof over her head. Leia spends all her time with her daughter when she isn't working at the charity organization, the same organization that once helped her, she is content with life and not looking for anything more, until her path crosses with the heir to the throne.
Prince Oliver is approaching his 30th birthday and is looking for a charity to promote, he wants to help those less fortunate and get out into the world be among his people, this brings him to the workplace of Leia.
Leia hates anything pompous, she isn't exactly a Royal fan so when Leia and Prince Oliver first meet it's not exactly the greeting prince Oliver usually gets.
Oliver is immediately attracted to Leia, he finds her refreshing, basically, she doesn't kiss ass and he likes that about her.
I loved the development in Leia and Oliver's relationship, the slow-burn, the swoon-worthy hotness of Oliver, the push and pull, the content was definitely a page-turner.
Tabloid Princess has the same feel as Tears Of Ink from Anna Bloom so if you have read that and loved it then you will definitely enjoy this royal Romance. This isn't a standalone, it doesn't finish with a major cliffhanger either but It does leave you wanting a heartwarming hea, the rags to riches story and more swoon from Oliver but there are a lot of hurdles to overcome before these two characters get there and I am looking forward to it.
Tabloid Princess is told in first person dual pov and the characters story continued in book 2

A BRILLIANT EXAMPLE OF A FRENEMIE'S TO LOVERS ROMANCE.
Piper is a wedding planner she loves to send the bride and groom off on their dream life together, making their special day magical.
Zach is a single widower, a divorce lawyer, he's a shark in the court room and although at the beginning of this book he is happy and in love, he is also a realist and puts the mockers on Piper's wedding couples by predicting how long they will last, he knows real love when he sees it, he is good at studying people, except for himself.
Zach and Piper do not get on, they have known each other years, have the same circle of friends but they are so mismatched when it comes to work and views but they do work in the same building sharing the same floor so avoiding each other is impossible.
Zach has two children and his oldest girl adores Piper and whenever she is at her daddy's office she goes over to see Piper, maybe its her Barbie type room and all the fun stuff she has in comparison to her daddy's boring office but Zach's daughter adores Piper, she's the bees knees, Zach doesn't think so until it's like he has an epiphany and starts to get feelings towards Piper he hasn't had before and the feelings become more intense when they are thrust together as Best an and maid of honour at their friends wedding pre-nuptials.
NEVER HAVE I EVER is a feel good romance, I liked how the author didn't focus on Zach's previous wife and marriage and kept it light. Never have I ever is fun and hot in all the right places with plenty of laugh out loud moments. Overall it's a great balanced out read that keeps you turning the pages.
Leads to a hea and told in first person dual pov.
It started out like any normal day.
Then the fender bender happened.
The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth.
Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway—one I was excited about.
Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.
Yeah, so I didn’t get the position.
The problem was, I really wanted it. No, I needed it. Anything to get me out of my current career and back into working with kids.
So, even though Hollis LaCroix was as intimidating as he was devastatingly handsome, I went back to see him and begged for a chance.
To my surprise, he gave me a shot taking care of his troubled niece.
At least my attraction to him wouldn’t be able to go anywhere. I wasn’t about to jeopardize my job or the strong bond Hailey and I formed.
But resisting the magnetic pull between us wasn’t that simple. (Then there was our little underwear game—don’t ask.)
We continued to flirt without crossing the line—until it finally happened.
This is the part of the story where we fall in love and live happily ever after, right?
Well, life has a way of throwing some major curveballs.
Ours was one I didn’t see coming.

Park Avenue Player by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland was yet another read by these two authors I could not get enough of! I adore these two authors writing who seem to know just what I want and need from my romance read.
PARK AVENUE PLAYER is fun, flirty, had a female character with sass and backbone which I love and a bossy Alpha who is a bit on the arrogant side.
Hollis & Elodie have their first encounter when they have a little car accident on a car park, Elodie is late for an interview and Hollis claims he has an appointment. Hollis meets Elodie again when he discovers she is the person he is supposed to be interviewing for the nanny position to his niece, who he has custody of, this scenario isn't new for me, I have read books before with this sort of start to a relationship but it's the after, the sass and determination of Elodie who obviously didn't get the job at first and the events that followed that made this different, and I book I couldn't get enough of.
Elodie and Hollis had chemistry, passion, I enjoyed the push and pull and there was even a surprising twist in this story that I didn't see coming, it was a twist that had me all kinds of confused and I actually felt hurt for Elodie, it was actually a heartbreaking moment.
PARK AVENUE PLAYER is told in first person dual pov and leads to a hea. I listened to this in audio and as always the narrators Sebastian York and Andi Arndt who normally narrate for Vi and Penelope's books really made this story more believable, more real. more enjoyable than actually reading the book.
Another amazing story by this amazing writing duo!

An explosive and epic love story set in the gritty world of the Storm MC..
I tried not to look at her.
I tried not to want her.
I tried not to love her.
But she won this war of hearts and now I'm a man on my knees.
This love may kill me.
My president will see to that.
No one touches his daughter.
He's removed me from her life.
He's sent me to hell where every day is a bloodbath.
If he thinks he's won, he's wrong.
Every battle is won before it's fought and she won this battle a long time ago.
I surrendered in our war of hearts and now I'll fight to the death for my queen
A forbidden MC Romance, what a dilemma when you fall for the Pres's daughter!.
WAR OF HEARTS is a book of two halves, the first being a young Zara who has fallen for one of her stepfathers men Fury.
Fury is given responsibility to look out for Zara following a threat and the two become close. Like all bikers in this series Fury is one sexy alpha, bossy with a cool demeanor and even though he tries to fight off his attraction towards Zara he fails and they become closer. Just when you think Zara and Fury are getting somewhere the plot takes a huge twist and turn, the story then has a huge time-gap jumping to a few years later.
I love this series, Nina writes bloody good MC, giving you everything you need in the plot to keep you turning the pages and I was loving Fury but I was so unhappy with the turn of events, with Fury's decision and I became very frustrated with his character. That was it for me, I wasn't interested anymore, talk about a moody reader but that was it, done.
All in all I finished, I eventually got the ending I wanted but I just never felt the same towards Fury in the second half of this book.
Looking forward to the next book in the series and hopefully this character wont piss me off.
Life had never been simple for Miki Quinten. Her mom had died when she was eight, and in the aftermath of their loss, her father turned his grief into alcoholism, inadvertently converting their home into a melting pot of debauchery. Unwilling to be put into the foster system, Miki takes control of her own life and becomes invisible to almost everyone but her best friend and godmother.
It stayed that way until her junior year in high school and the sudden, unexpected crash landing of Childress High’s star defensive end, Dustin Hill, into her life. The unlikely pair are thrown together and discover they have more in common than either of them thought, and before either Miki or Dustin are prepared an unbreakable bond is formed between them. The only problem is, Dustin’s already in a relationship, and his controlling family have made it clear they want him to stay there.
Against Miki’s better judgment the two grow closer until fate’s twisted sense of humor intervenes and everything in Miki’s world is scattered, plunging her into a crisis she’s not sure she will ever recover from.

"there’s a preordained path we all take.”
There are books that stick with me long after the last page and there have been other books along my reading journey that broke my heart only to then put it back together but A Shot in the dark by L.J. Stock, I just have no words for this book that I finished in awe, I'm still processing, I'm still seeing scenes play over in my mind and the whispering of words still trailing through thoughts from this beautifully written book. 💕
A fateful meeting, a high school romance, a secret romance, Miki Quinten ventured into the romance of a lifetime in secret with the high-school superstar, secret places only they knew about, stolen brushes of hands and secret kisses until it all went terribly wrong, one moment changed her life forever but out of it came a beautiful story of first love.
"I wasn’t totally blind or delusional. I had noticed the secrecy that Dustin was establishing our friendship on. I was being hidden away like an enigma, a little secret that was bordering on dirty for the high school football star".
"One night. One night with this guy was all it took for me to see the world in a whole new set of colors."
Real, raw, moving, emotional, many words stand out throughout Miki's story but tragic is the one that stands out the most.
A tragic upbringing, a tragic childhood then-teenage relationship with her father, a tragic love story. Two real loves in one lifetime, this is where it was real, the raw was dealing with the pain and having to go on when your world feels like it just ended, moving, there are so many emotions I felt for Miki and so many times I admired her ability to get back up after being knocked down and the strength she had of a girl who had pretty much brought herself up.
A book of two halves, second chances, a character who's own heart became two halves until it became whole again, but not without a fight, not without healing and even then years had passed.
You need to go into this blind, I tried so hard with my review not to add spoilers with regards to the plot, you need to feed on the words and feel the emotions, look at this in color.
This was my first stand-alone book by this author and it won't be my last, I did finish with a contented and happy sigh, but the journey, I must use the quote from the Lock stock and two smoking barrels "It's been emotional"
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart”
― Helen Keller
Totally recommended read. Thank you to those who recommended it to me this is one that will stick

I wanted to tell him all my secrets, but he became one of them instead.
Chloe Rivers never thought she would keep secrets from her best friend. Then again, she never imagined she would fall in love with him either. When she finally reveals her feelings, rejection shatters her, rendering her vulnerable and sending her straight into the destructive arms of the wrong guy.
Gavin Rhodes never saw the betrayal coming. It crushes him. Chloe has always been his forbidden fantasy--sweet, tempting, and beautiful. But when the opportunity finally presents itself, he makes the biggest mistake of all and denies her.
Now it's too late . . .
Four years after a devastating tragedy, Chloe and Gavin find themselves crashing back into each other's lives. Haunted by the past, they're forced to come to terms with all that has transpired to find the peace they deserve. Except they can't seem to get near each other without combatting an intense emotional connection that brings them right back to where it all started . . . their childhood treehouse.
Chloe still holds her secrets close, but this time she isn't the only one with something to hide. Can their deep-rooted connection survive the destruction of innocence?
Up in the Tree house was my first book by KK Allen and I am sure it won't be my last.
Chloe Rivers first meets twin boys Gavin and Devon when they move in next door to Chloe and they all became childhood friends. The tree house was somewhere they spent all their time and it later held so many heartwarming and heartbreaking memories. Gavin was Chloe's protector while Devon was a bit of a loose cannon especially when they reached high school age. They were a close group of friends with a strong bond until things began to change and Chloe started dating Devon in high-school.
Later in the story there is an accident of sorts and something traumatic happens that has Chloe fleeing and moving away. Without adding spoilers the story then moves to Chloe's return 4 years later.
There is so much heartwarming moments in this book and angst that I didn't expect.
A story about love and loss, friendships, trust, forgiveness, regrets, healing of hearts and mostly second chances, UP IN THE TREE HOUSE is a journey.
A beautiful story that I really enjoyed. I listened to this on audio and could not wait to return back to it after each time I had to put it down. This is definitely a Sunday read, one of those books were you lock yourself away on your day off and just immerse the story and enjoy.
TOLD IN FIRST PERSON POV AND LEADS TO HEA. AVAILABLE IN KU AND AUDIO.
Let me ask you a question:
If someone is vying for your spot on a team and just so happens to injure you during practice, would you believe it was on purpose?
Word around campus is . . . it was no accident.
That injury has cost me everything; my starting position, my junior year—and the draft. Now, I’m a senior fresh off recovery, struggling to find my groove, until the day I run into a nervous, fidgety, girl with freckles, in the dining hall.
They call Milly Potter The Baseball Whisperer, The Diamond Wizard, and The Epitome of All Knowledge. She believes in baseball. She breathes it. She’s the queen of an infamous dynasty, but no one actually knows who she really is, and she plans to keep it that way.
One mishap in the panini line, one miscommunication in the weight room, and many failed attempts at an apology equal up to one solid truth -- Milly Potter never wants to speak to me again -- no matter how good my forearms look.
Little do we both know, she’s about to become more than just my fairy ballmother.

I absolutely adored this book!!
Another book in this series I could not put down.
The Dugout begins with Carson Stone, a baseball star on his journey to being drafted until an injury strikes and he becomes the damaged Alpha Hero with a big chip on his shoulder, baseball is Carson's dream, his life and within seconds the path he was on suddenly changed, he was left recovering and still in college baseball when his other teammates began to move on to bigger things.
Milly, I absolutely loved her, she's got baseball in her blood, her brothers played, her dad's a big fan, she teaches little league and she is not only a ball-buster who knows her stuff but she's a nerdy-looking intelligent young woman who is also sassy, she was fabulous.
I loved the slow burn in The Dugout, the getting to know you stages, the swoon moments. I would totally recommend this heartwarming, funny romantic comedy.
I can't wait for more, Milly's brother gave me major swoons too, I am looking forward to whatever Meghan Quinn brings next in this baseball series.
Declan: I was born into this world. I am what it made me. I do things that others find disgusting. I broke many rules when I met Brooke. She showed up one night and I took advantage of that. When she kept coming back, I knew there was more to her. One fucking day changed it all. One secret from my past blew our relationship out of the water.
Brooke: Loss was all I knew. It creeps around every corner. One dare. That’s all it took. The night I met Declan, I was on the high of my life. I felt safe with him. Little did I know; his secrets were also mine. When his past is revealed, I lose it. The man he claimed to be was a man I’d known all my life.

My first book by this author and being a lover of MC and this book currently being a freebie, I thought why not discover a new to me author.
I enjoyed it, DECLAN contained all I enjoy in an MC romance, sassy heroine, an Alpha male domineering character, club business, action and angst, a family type of MC and the romance leads to plenty of hotness and a hea.
Some things within the plot made me stop and second guess what I was reading, one being when Declan and Brooke first meet early on in the book, basically Brooke is at her friends house who lives across the road, they are having a girly night and she is dared to go to the biker compound at the top of the street and ask for a beer. The club house is obviously having a party with the music blaring from it and when Brooke does go to the gates she is confronted by the VP of the club Declan, they get it on quite quick? like up against a wall sort of thing then before you know it, it's like OK now I'll just go then, thanks for the orgasm?. Also, how has Brooke never passed any bikers before or know any of them when the compound is at the top of the street? Brooke went from a strong sassy character, to quickly going way down on my estimation of her character in that first scene with Declan, probably just as quick as her orgasm was.
A story of fate, acceptance and finding that one true soul mate.
I had a few issues with the plot in this book but as I have stated it was an OK MC romance and I would definitely give this authors books another go as other characters did pique my interest.
His eyes have the power to undo all the hurt caused by my family.
“Don’t let them see you cry.”
After months of refusing I finally agree to move to America, where my fiancé’s waiting for me.
Just like my mother, an arranged marriage lies in my near future.
Just like my mother, I’m probably going to be shoved aside in a couple of years after providing the Cutler family with an heir.
Being a Korean girl from a culture that’s very different from the west, it makes me stand out like a sore thumb. There’s nothing I can do but to accept the fate arranged by my father and his mistress. My marriage to Lake Cutler will be a business deal and nothing else.
My plan is simple.
Make him hate me enough to break off the engagement, so I can return to Korea.
But I didn’t account for those caring brown eyes.
What started as a mission to save myself from an unhappy arranged marriage soon turns into a battle to not lose my heart.
I dare him to walk away, but instead, he shows me any bridge can be crossed.
This is Book 3 in The Trinity Academy Series.
All 3 books are interconnected, and some plots have been carried over from the previous 2 books in this series.
What a perfect and addictive series. I loved the friendship dynamic between these three guys and as the books interlinked also the relationships between the girls.
When I started reading Trinity academy I was given the impression, these were three guys who ruled the school, guys who weren't to be messed with, guys with power and knew they were untouchable and I was all kinds of excited for this kind of angsty college series with obviously romance along the way.
Trinity Academy wasn't at all what I thought, I got to see the guys behind the persona people had built up of them and when it moved into Mason's story it became so much more and I was taken by surprise in this turn. Then we get to lakes story was all kinds of swoon.
Lake has been expecting an arranged marriage for a few years, on behalf of a merger with his company, which is all part of a huge business deal. Lake is the easy-going one of the three guys, he's the one the girls mess around with and chat with, he's either one of the guys or one of the girls, he's such an easy-going laid back guy, so it's no surprise he's the one that sacrificed himself out of the three of them to take one for the team and also sacrifice himself.
Lee is a Korean girl who has been told by her father whom she has never met because he lives with his mistress that she must marry lake or he will make her mother suffer financially, basically ruin her and Lee loves her mother dearly. The two of them have shared a tiny room, they are so poor but are so close that you are given the impression only love some days kept their hearts warm, happy and content. For Lee and her mother it has always been a struggle but Lee is willing to do anything even sacrifice herself for her mother.
I loved Lee, the blurb gives the wrong impression of her, she is sweet from day one when she first meets lake? Lee is the kind of girl who you just want to find happiness and her prince charming, she deserved a better father, a better upbringing, a better life and she so deserved to find a guy like Lake.
I was really looking forward to this story and it did not disappoint. It's always bittersweet reading the last book in a series and I still want more and didn't want to let go of these characters including side characters who had piqued my interest.
Recommended College romance series. Told in first person dual pov and each book leads to a hea.
This is an interconnected series so I would recommend starting with the first book Falcon.
From Wall Street Journal & USA Bestselling Author M. Robinson. A coming of age, enemies to lovers, contemporary romance filled with angst and all the feels.
I couldn’t remember a time before her... Harley Jameson.
Before she owned me.
Before I hated her…
Things were simple.
We had an understanding.
Bully. Fight. Hate. It’s what we did.
Mind. Body. Soul. It’s how we loved.
I thought nothing would ever change that, until everything did.
She was mine.
Always had been.
Always would be.
Nothing altered that.
Not how much I hated her.
Not how much she hated me.
Especially, not how much I hated…
That I LOVED her.
Enemies to lovers?, oh no, this is just hate and more hate. I loved it!
Two kids that have grown up together, they fight, they argue, they write hate notes to each other. Jackson picks on Harley and of course being the daughter of Creed from the book Road to nowhere, my favourite book of this authors, she obviously and because she's Creeds daughter, gives it back harder, her daddy taught her well.
The whole plot takes you from Harley and Jackson as young children to the age of 15 and 16, it's a journey and I feel like I am only just dipping my toe into the ripples of what's to come.
I'm a huge fan of M Robinson, so to go to the next generation and have more from The good o'l boys is a delight, although they are always in one of M Robinson's books one way or another, I love the way the Author interlinks in a way so you can sometimes get a glimpse of favorite or familiar characters.
Harley is Creeds daughter and Jackson is the troubled teen with a huge attitude we read about in The Pierced hearts duet, Dr Pierce is a friend of the MC, attended the MC gatherings and all their families over the years became close including the children, in Harley and Jackson's case too close to be safe around each other without a fight.
I am so excited for book 2 in this duet, I just felt the whole thing just building and building and I am so looking forward to more from Jackson and Harley. I hope it carries on and doesn't jump to years later in their lives but I suppose we will have to see.
Hated you then can be read as a standalone, has a young adult feel to it, contains humor, heartfelt moments, has no sex scenes (yet? ) but contains plenty of bully angst and drama.
Another M Robinson book I couldn't put down and I am eagerly awaiting the conclusion.

When I first encountered Ford Donovan, I had no idea who he was…well, other than the obvious. Young, gorgeous, successful, smart. Did I mention young? If I did, it bears repeating. Ford Donovan was too young for me.
Let’s back up to how it all started. My best friend decided I needed to start dating again. So, without my knowledge, she set up a profile for me on a popular dating site—one that invited men ages twenty-one to twenty-seven to apply for a date. Those nicknamed Cunnilingus King were told they’d go straight to the top for consideration. The profile wasn’t supposed to go live. Another point that bears repeating—it wasn’t supposed to.
Nevertheless, that’s how I met Ford, and we started messaging.
He made me laugh; yet I was adamant that because of his age, we could only be friends. But after weeks of wearing me down, I finally agreed to one date only—my first after twenty years of being with my high school sweetheart. I knew it couldn’t last, but I was curious about him.
Though, you know what they say…curiosity kills the cat.
My legs wobbled walking into the restaurant.
Ford was seated at the bar. When he turned around, he took my breath away.
His sexy smile nearly melted my panties.
But…he looked so familiar.
As I got closer I realized why.
He was the son of the neighbor at our family’s summer home.
The boy next door.
Only now…he was all man.
I hadn’t seen him in years.
I left the restaurant and planned to put the entire crazy thing behind me.
Which I did. Until summer came.
And guess who decided to use his family’s summer home this year?
An older woman, younger man romance.
I loved it!! Vi Keeland never fails to draw me in with her interesting characters, a perfect balance of hotness and addictive story-line.
I loved Ford, the hottie next door, the boy who used to babysit for her son when he was a teen at their summer beach house and now he's all grown up, a hottie but a hottie that has the hots for Valentina.
I loved the push and pull in the beginning. Valentina had so many doubts about why she couldn't' enter into a relationship with a younger man and even though she was now single, divorced and experiencing life again, a relationship with a man 12 years younger was something she just couldn't allow herself to experience but Ford was persistent, he was a man who knew exactly what he wanted and went for it.
Ford owned his own business had been the carer for his sister when his parents died in a car accident, he was mature and a hottie to boot.
I loved both of these characters and the hea was heartwarming.
I listened to this in audio and I thoroughly enjoyed Andi Arndt and Sebastian York's narration, they are a great team, always do the characters justice and I always enjoy audio from these two narrators.

They warned me not to take this job.
They said you were ruthless, impossible to please…
I said I was better than them.
I wouldn’t fall for your charm, your arrogance, or how sexy you fill out that suit.
I wouldn’t fall for your deep brown eyes or the way that muscle moves in your square jaw when you’re pissed.
I said I could resist you.
I was wrong...
(BOSS OF ME is a STAND-ALONE workplace, enemies to lovers, military romance with a badass alpha boss and the feisty woman who steals his heart. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)

Enemies to lovers, office romance, great characters.
This was a good read with a perfect balance of hotness, story line and leads to a hea.
Patton Fletcher is an intense broody hero, a retired soldier who is used to not only bossing people around but watching over those in his care. I guess even though he has now left the forces he can't switch off and has an intense constant worry for his friend Marley who he and his team rescued when he was taken and held hostage while serving in the forces and Marley hasn't been the same since, most of the plot focuses on Marley. To be honest I was more intrigued about Marley, he had more going on in regards to angst and drama and I would be really interested in reading his story.
Raquel was the new hire in his office, she was clever, extremely intelligent but at the same time didn't come across as a nerd, she was likeable but not exciting. There was instant chemistry between the two but the push and pull didn't last long at all, so I wouldn't really class this as an enemies lovers story as I know it but it was good and entertaining.
Boss of me was a romance that had a little angst, a good plot, hotness and a heartwarming hea.
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken comes a new story in her Eagle Elite series…
Every family has rules, the mafia just has more....
Do not speak to the bosses unless spoken to.
Do not make eye contact unless you want to die.
And above all else, do not fall in love.
Renee Cassani's future is set.
Her betrothal is set.
Her life, after nannying for the five families for the summer, is set
Somebody should have told Vic Colezan that.
He's a man who doesn't take no for an answer.
And he only wants one thing.
Somebody should have told Renee that her bodyguard needed as much discipline as the kids she was nannying.
Good thing Vic has a firm hand.

I was hooked from the first chapter and read in one sitting.
What a dilemma Vic was in. Vic was sworn into the Mafia family to protect, to focus on his job as the enforcer, he was to be celibate with no distractions, he was a lethal weapon for the family and whoever needed him but at the end of the day he was also just a man.
Vic was drawn to the nanny Renee, a member of the mafia family who was watching over Nixon and Trace's daughter, Serena, her own father is part of the mafia family and she is helping for the summer until she goes to college. Vic tried to fight off his feelings for Renee, failure would mean punishment for breaking his vow by blood to the family, but the need and desire becomes to much even for a man as hard and fierce as Vic Abandanado .
I haven't read all this series and regardless of that I didn't feel like there was anything I missed, the plot was solely focused on the two characters and their story, it did, however, have me wanting to know more about all the secondary characters and what their history was and who they were. I can see this series being highly addictive to a mafia romance lover like myself, it was a perfect mix of danger, hotness and mafia madness, with twists and turns, it also had humor in certain parts of the plot to lighten the mood and help it feel real, I loved it.
A really good mafia read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the characters and I am certainly going to check out more books in this series. Although this is classed as a novella with over 20 chapters you sure do get a good read.
1001 Dark Nights is a brilliant idea for readers and authors. It really does give you the opportunity to experience a book from a series that can be read as a standalone and introduces you to a series. I loved it.

Stefan Sabbioni showed up in my bedroom on my sixteenth birthday. Uninvited, he stood in the shadows smelling of whiskey and death and wrapped a broken, blood-crusted necklace around my neck.
I thought he’d strangle me with it.
That night, he left a message for my father. He said he’d be back to take something precious.
I never delivered that message, though. I wonder if things would be different if I had because now, two years later, he’s back. And he’s not hiding in any shadows.
He’s come to make good on his promise.
He’s back to take that something precious.
Marchese is the manipulator of my family’s tragedy. I won’t just bring him to his knees. I’ll bury him for what he did.
Taking his daughter is only the beginning. I’ll do it knowing I’m starting a war. I’ll do it knowing my enemies will become his allies. They’ll stop at nothing to destroy me and he’ll stop at nothing to get her back.
I’ve never shied away from war, though. I’m not one to play nice and I don’t share my toys. I’ll demolish you if you touch what’s mine.
And she is most definitely mine.

Bloody brilliant!! I need the next book like air.
Oh wow, I don't even know where to start with this, I devoured it.
Garbriela Marchese, a young woman used as a bargaining chip, a pawn in a mafia game of who has the most power. Poor Gabriela, for all of her life she has been the princess in the tower with a mafia boss father who restricted her, she was home schooled, had no friends, no mobile phone and very little access to the outside world and her life was mapped out, she was to be a wife of whoever her father chooses that will bring wealth and more strength to the family.
Stefan Sabbioni, hot damn, let me swoon a minute, he's power, demanding, A Sicilian mafia boss and a man out for revenge. Stefan is bitter following the death of his brother and discovering a rival family is to blame he wants to hit the Marchese family were it hurts and what better way than to take the Boss's daughter, something personal.
Whatever Stefan has over Gabriela's father has him agreeing to an arranged marriage and the day after meeting with Gabriela's father, Stefan takes her to his home in preparation for the marriage.
Gabriela has backbone, she's feisty, sassy and is more than capable of standing up for herself, she hates the Mafia and what she has seen in her lifetime but this is her life.
I loved how these two are insanely attracted to each other but don't voice it, I loved the chemistry, the heat and the sparks coming off them when they were in the same room, I can't wait for more.
Oh my, and then there are the twists and turns, so much going on in this plot and to top it off, the cliffhanger I was left with that has me chomping at the bit to get to the next book.
This isn't my first Natasha Knight book but she is quickly becoming my go to author for angsty Mafia romance.
Brilliant, I cannot wait for more.
"You’re my assistant."
The magic words every girl at Trinity Academy is dying to hear.
But I’m the one who gets stuck with Mason Chargill, the star of most women’s fantasies but my nightmare. One of the heirs to CRC Holdings, he might be dangerously gorgeous, but his cold and callous demeanor makes him an ice prince.
He expects me to abide by the Academy’s hierarchy, to be at his constant beck and call.
Yeah, right… hell will freeze over before that ever happens.
Unfortunately for him, I’m no pushover.
Unfortunately for me, he’s determined to break me.
If only there were a way to melt the shard of ice he calls a heart.
This is Book 2 in The Trinity Academy Series.
All 3 books are interconnected, and some plots have been carried over from the 1st book and will be carried over to the final book in this series.
"She's always smiling as if life is nothing but unicorn farts and butterflies shitting all over the fucking flowers. It irritates the living fuck out of me"
Wow, this has to be my favourite one yet. I did not put this book down!!
My impression of Mason from the first book Falcon was he was basically a moody Alpha-hole, well he didn't prove me wrong there but as the story progressed you get to see more of the real man behind the mood, you see the hurt and the reasons for Mason being Mason to those who don't know him.
"I fell for a feisty girl with zero style. I fell for the smile, which used to annoy me. I fucking fell."
I loved Kingsley, she is a young woman who definitely does not take any crap from anyone and even though people fear Mason because of his power and wealth and his status at the academy she isn't the kind of person to back down and she gives as good as she gets. Kingsley may not be the type of bimbo type woman Mason normally goes for but she is definitely his match.
"You were literally a light that forced your way through the darkness. I became accustomed to after I lost my sister"
A brilliant frenemies to lovers story and a thrilling addition to this series, I was hooked from page one I could not wait to read Kingsley and Masons story from what I had read in the previous book, I knew I was in for some hot and fiery treat and I was not disappointed.
I loved how the guys were more playful in this book too and how you got more of an insight to their friendship dynamic.
I laughed, I swooned, I felt the angst and the heartwarming moments. I loved it and can't wait for more.
Trinity academy is a series, each book is focused on a different character but the plot does continue so cannot be read as a standalone. I would totally recommend starting this book beginning with Falcon and Layla's story.

My favourite men of music.
Only one of them within reach.
The night before Presley West was due to leave our small town of Hollings Hill, all of my high school fantasies came to life. He finally wanted me. Eight years I’d spent pining, and now I, bar-tending Tessa Lisbon, was going to make damn sure I made that night count before the music industry stole him.
Never screw your idols. That’s what they say, right? Well, I did, and I did it well. So well, I somehow managed to screw my own heart in the process.
He gave me one night to convince him to stay. In the end, I begged him to go.
But that’s the thing about rock stars: they do what they want, when they want, and forever didn’t end up being as long as I expected.
Presley was back, and with his face, voice, and music now everywhere I turned, I officially had nowhere left to run.

This book is like a rhythm, one slow beat after another until the rising tempo or was that my heart?.
Amazing! CHERRY BEATS is the first debut book by Author Vicki James, also known as Victoria L James, author of A GIRL LIKE LILAC and NATEXUS among others and just like those books this author rocked it out of the arena, name change, but same great memorable stories.
A journey, a story about the rise to fame and stardom of a rock-star and all the glory, the temptations and the nasty that comes along with it, and a love story that would survive it all.
A school crush that became so much more, A rock-star crush that was always so much more. A one night stand that was never just meant to be just one night. .
Tessa Lisbon has been in love with 15 year old Presley since she first saw him take the school stage with his drum sticks in the air. "I saw how music could be a part of someones soul. The quiet boy who'd stared at the floor like he didn't care had gone with the first hit of his stick on the snare drum. He'd been transformed into a rock god before my eyes"
Eight years later and Tess worked at a bar, every night she watched Presley from afar, different night, different girl hanging off him, until just before he was due to go on his first tour, a tour that would change his life forever, Tess finally got her piece of the man of her dreams, the boy she had longed for, for so long from a distance.
Presley didn't just become a rock-star when he left, he became magazines hottest man of the year and Tess was left with the memories of their one night together, a night no other could compare to, Presley ruined her for any other man.
"He was everywhere on my skin, in my mind, in my veins, in every song, I'd ever sung"
There's a steady paced tempo to Cherry Beats and from the first chord of this addictive romance I was mesmerised. I clung to every word and action by these characters. From the moment Presley West stood on his high school stage and claimed the heart of Tessa Lisbon and through the years that followed.
"We were only ever meant to be a one night thing" I whispered.
"Isn't that how all best love stories start"
A story that is raw and real, with hotness and humor. At times I held on with bated breath waiting for that crashing symbol to fall but it never came, Presley became my idol in those moments. There's no cheating thank god, I think this what I was dreading more than anything especially with his lifestyle as a rock-star, this was the crashing symbol I was waiting for, Tessa had truly captured my heart she was quirky, sassy and I wanted it all for her, I wanted her to get her dream too, which was only ever about the boy behind the drums.
I can honestly look back after finishing and say, this is an epic love story, recommended for any music fan, romance fan, those who gush over first loves, second chances and stories of hopes and dreams, Cherry Beats has it all.
Cherry Beats is a top of the charts hit. Told in first person pov. Leads to hea. I want more, more from the band, I am definitely looking forward to whatever Vicki James brings next.
As a former member of the United States Secret Service, I’m no stranger to putting my life on the line in the name of duty. Having left the nation’s capital to re-settle in Pittsburgh, the skills I acquired during my tenure in Washington have made me a valued member of the team at Jameson Force Security. But when the President comes seeking a favor to protect his niece, I find myself on the fast track back to the Oval Office.
Simply put… she’s beyond brilliant. A nationally renowned energy scientist, Barrett Alexander is on the verge of a breakthrough that will change the world. Unfortunately, that has also made her the target of a suspected terrorist cell. And while Barrett doesn’t believe she’s in any real danger, the President isn’t willing to take chances with her life.
As the threats against Barrett become more calculated, I decide taking her on the run is her best chance of survival. Danger, isolation, and attraction ensure we grow closer than I’d ever thought possible.
When I realize I want to keep her safe for reasons that have nothing to do with my job and everything to do with the woman I’ve fallen in love with, no one is safe from the hell I’ll rain down on those that threaten her

Another great addition to the series.
CODE NAME SENTINEL is the second book in this thrilling series.
If you love the bodyguard kind of trope then your in for a treat.
Cruce Britton is one of the task force at Jameson Force security, he's already saved the presidents life once when he was a member of the secret service and now he works for Kynen along with other members of the newly established team. Kynen's own romance and story is in the first book of the series CODE NAME GENESIS not too dissimilar to this one but with more of a second chance romance trope.
Bennett Alexander is one of the world's leading energy scientist and she's getting close to changing the world with clean energy, she is also the Presidents niece so when her life comes into jeopardy the President calls in a favour once again and Cruce is the one detailed to protect her.
There is instant chemistry between Cruce and Bennett and although they are totally different characters it worked.
Bennett is the type of woman who spends all her time dedicating herself to her theories and work, hiding herself away in a lab or in her office, she isn't very worldly and hardly ever does anything outside of work.
Cruce is all action, a real action man, and he gradually persuades Bennett to take time out and have more experiences in life, of course she has no choice when she is taken away to an island for her protection but just getting away despite the threats she is under gets her out of her work bubble.
Bennett's eyes begin to open a little more as she begins to spend more time with Cruce, she also begins to fall hard for her protector.
There's danger, action and adventure and a heartwarming romance that develops between Cruce and Bennett. There are great secondary characters too with other members of the Jameson Security team and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Another exciting addition to this addictive series. Can be read as a standalone and told in first person pov.
A heartbreaking mature YA novel from the author of the bestselling contemporary romance, Harley & Rose.
Cancer sucks … and then you die.
Alaska Stone is a walking wet dream.
My wet dream.
For years, I’ve watched her in the halls, wanted her, but she never knew I existed.
Not until she walked into my chemo session.
For me, it was love at first sight.
For her? It might take a little longer.
But hey, it’s not like we’re on a deadline or anything.
You know that saying "may as well make the most of it"? "make good out of a bad situation" well, you could say these characters did that.
Styx Hendricks was an amazing and inspirational character with a terminal illness and he dragged Alaska Stone right along with him on their journey into forever, their positivity was infectious.
Two people with terminal illness, two people who find love and comfort in each other in their last days.
"Our diagnoses brought us together, but it may be the very thing that tears us apart."
To say I was an absolute snotty, tearful, blubbering mess when I finished this book would be an understatement. This book is going to take some getting over.
What a heartbreaking and heartwarming story . How bittersweet. Carmen Jenner you broke me with your wonderful, inspiring words and these beautiful characters.
I laughed, I cried, I finished in awe.
"We're gonna be late," Stones whispers. "Late for what?" She grins and presses her lips to mine. "Forever."
