He could be incredibly hurtful and incredibly thoughtful. He wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for me. He challenged me, he took me out of my safe little box and showed me the world could be magnificent. He was everything I wasn’t. I fell in love with these characters from the beginning and I felt every part of their journey. Brilliant writing and story from Jane Harvey-Berrick. Kes and Aimee first meet when they are 10 years old. Kes is a part of the circus that has come into town and Aimee is visiting with her parents. A friendship blossomed from their first moments together and from there spans on for years. Aimee lived for the two weeks a year she got to spend with Kes. From the times the posters went up around town about the circus coming to town each year I actually got excited for her. From childhood to teenage years, Aimee battles against her stuck up narrow minded parent's and distance but they make it work until they become two helpless kids fighting a losing battle. Eight years later now both adults Kes and Aimee are reunited. A story in two parts, I loved the innocence of the characters in the first part, the sexual experiments and experiences being each other's firsts, two people's journey to falling in love. The second part I was gripped by the angst, indesision and uncertainty of where the plot would go. I do love a childhood to adult romance and although that's exactly what Kes and Aimee had it's so much more. It's a love against all odds, two worlds either colliding or blending, a love that is destined to be but will heart or head rule?. It was a rollercoaster of emotions for me, I laughed, felt sad, felt the angst and felt the chemistry. I wasn't sure if I would like the topic being around travellers and circus, it didn't really appeal to me but having read this book I can tell you it's an epic love story, a journey with two people destined to be together, underlining messages, heartache and heart warming moments. Told in Aimee's pov and leads you to an ending that makes you want to jump into book two immediately. Available in KU. I've already downloaded book two and can't wait to see where Aimee and Kes's journey ends, im both scared and excited.
