HE CAN TAKE THE HEAT.
Hot, hard-bodied Sixten Rapp is a former SEAL who’s raring to begin his brand-new civilian life. He and his Navy “brothers” start a security firm that offers the kind of services only a team of military-trained professionals can provide. But nothing prepared Six for his new client: an innocent woman on a mission to improve thousands of lives. . . unless someone takes hers first.
CAN SHE HANDLE THE FLAMES?
Dr. Louisa North knows time is against her as she tries to create a “miracle” medical treatment for a disease with no known cure, until she creates a sample so powerful that the wrong people want to use it as a chemical weapon. At first, Six is unwilling to accept Louisa as his client. But soon he realizes that the danger is real and that there’s much more to this plain-Jane scientist…including a burning passion between them that neither of them can resist. And now that an enemy is on Louisa’s trail, Six will do whatever it takes to protect her―or die trying.
"I just never saw stars Like I do with you"
Under Fire is the first book in a new exciting series by Scarlett Cole, filled with suspense and action, oh & hunky ex forces guys.
Ex military service man Sixton; AKA Six and his best friends from his school years have served in the forces together, saved lives and money for their future and now having all left the forces together have gone into partnership with their own security firm.
One of their first jobs is security at a charity event where Louisa, a scientist is a speaker for the evening on behalf of the research company in her bid to raise money for the research into the cure of Huntington's disease, something close to home for Louisa AKA Lou with the loss of her father.
Six and Lou hit it off straight away and she finds she is at ease around him instead of having her usual anxiety and in days to follow bumps into Six again where a friendship develops.
Louisa is a shy, timid person, she doesn't like crowds or being around people, she has her own laboratory were she works and prefers to be alone. Louisa has many issues along with traits of OCD which is how she realised someone had moved things in her lab.
Lou goes from thinking she's being paranoid to then needing the help of Six and his friends when someone breaks into her house.
Under Fire is a great and interest plot with likeable characters, steady paced and although there's action, Russian gangster involvement and danger there's no gruesome detail or overkill on bloodshed. (pardon the pun ;-)
It is what it is, A good action romance with entertaining believable scenes, great characters, hotness and cherry on top, leads to a hea.
* Downside for me; Under Fire is told in third person, so it's more like a story for e.g this sentence; THIRD PERSON: As Louisa walked into the room and scanned her surroundings.......
My preference is always first person you feel more connected to the characters with their thoughts and feelings and also alternate pov's per chapter is easier to follow.
e.g FIRST PERSON: As I walked into the room, I scanned my surroundings.....
That's my only negative of this book and that's down to personal preference.
Recommended read for those that love action hero's saving a damsel in distress & Six is one hot lovable action man
