My name is Cassidy Porter...
My father, Paul Isaac Porter, was executed twenty years ago for the brutal murder of twelve innocent girls.
Though I was only eight-years-old at the time, I am aware - every day of my life - that I am his child, his only son.
To protect the world from the poison in my veins, I live a quiet life, off the grid, away from humanity.
I promised myself, and my mother, not to infect innocent lives with the darkness that swirls within me, waiting to make itself known.
It's a promise I would have kept...if Brynn Cadogan hadn't stumbled into my life.
Now I exist between heaven and hell: falling for a woman who wants to love me, while all along reminding myself that I must remain...

Unloved is a beautiful story of discovery, new beginnings and healing after grief.
A story of fate in it's finest moment.
Unloved had me completely captivated.
Two characters who have loved and lost, different circumstances, different kinds of love but both healing in their own way and both living but not truly alive.
Brynn loses her fiance in a mass shooting. Two years later and Brynn still hasn't moved on. Brynn decides it's time and through what she considers a sign wants to bury a part of Jem on the mountain he loved. Brynn isn't a climber or an outdoors person but Jem loved it and this is something she needs to do for closure, climb the mountain and say goodbye.
Cassidy Porter was once a fun loving little boy who lived with his mother in a small town and saw his father occasionally who traveled a lot. Life changed for Cassidy and his mother when they discovered Paul Porter the husband and father they rarely saw accept when passing through was a serial killer, a rapist and had been arrested.
shunned by society Cassidy's mother took them out of town and into the wilderness to live with his Grandfather who had a cabin.
Cassidy Porter vowed to never have children, end the genes of his evil father, Cassidy kept himself from society and lived in the sad belief that he could one day become like his father so he stayed away from people. Following the death of his Grandfather & mother Cassidy continued to live alone with only animals as company and beautiful views of the mountain.
A heart breaking part of the story for both characters and Cassidy's self beliefs tugged on my heart over and over throughout this story.
Brynn takes the trip up the mountain and despite bad weather driven by a determination to fulfil her goal she continues on her journey until an accident and incident leaves her seriously injured and close to death up on the mountain.
Cassidy and Brynn meet when Cassidy finds Brynn, rescues her, carries her seven miles to his cabin and tends to her while she is sick.
Weeks of being alone with only the two of them getting to know each other, Cassidy caring for Brynn & helping her heal turns from a sorrowful journey to a beautiful romantic story that is so captivating.
The story isn't without hot moments and has a huge twist and has a brilliant balance throughout the plot to keep you turning the pages.
This is my first book by Kate Regnery and I can't wait to read more from this author.
Unloved is told in first person dual pov's and leads to a hea.
