Title: Out of the Red
Series: Hunte Family #1
Author: Arell Rivers
Genre: Contemporary Rockstar Romance
Release Date: April 25, 2019
One impassioned argument.
One dominating kiss.
One unexpected moment that turns everything upside down.
And thatâs only the opening act.
Rockstar Braxton Hunte is the type of chaos that makes your soul burnâ¦
Brax has been on tour for a decade, and some may say he swallows obstacles for fun. Well, maybe he doesâheâs never encountered a riff he couldnât handle, a treasure he couldnât score, or a woman he couldnât conquer. No one, especially not a buttoned-down rule-follower like the bandâs new tour accountant, is going to change him.
Accountant Sara Anderson is an unabashed stickler for the rulesâ¦
Saraâs worked nine long years to make partner, and only one thing stands between her and her goalâHunte. Now sheâs going on their tour to whip the band into financial shape. So long as she gets them out of the red, the promotion will be hers. Those bad boys of rock will be tamed, no matter how yummy their lead singer is.
When rebellion confronts discipline, fireworks explode.
Passions collide, and lives are permanently altered, in this enemies-to-lovers, slow burn standalone romance set in the mid-1990sâwhen grunge ruled the airwaves and women partners were as uncommon as those new mobile phones.

âOkay, enough babbling about me. Whatâs up in your life?â
I fill her in about Hunte and my brilliant strategy to bring them to heel.
âOh my gosh, Sara, Hunte is to die for! You are so lucky.â
I know what sheâs talking about, and feign ignorance. âItâs work, not play.â I pause. âSo can I count on you to watch over my plants if I have to stay away longer than a week?â
âIâll drop off the instructions, plus a copy of my itinerary in case you need to reach me, in your mailbox on my way to the airport.â
âSounds good.â She giggles. âGeez, we both wouldnât kick Braxton Hunte out of bed for eating crackers. Of course, that was before I got married. So now, itâs all on you.â
Even if I used to agree with her, my promotion rests on them now. I open the hall closet and grab a roll of toilet paper, filling up the holder in the guest bathroom. âJoanna, Iâm going to be their tour accountant, not their groupie. No one from A&L has ever joined them on tour. Iâm convinced that if I spend a week or two with them, Iâll sort out their crazy spendthrift ways. The partners will have no choice but to invite me into their ranks.â
When I finish, sheâs silent for a long pause. âHunteâs been around for years nowâ¦â
Having restored perfect order to my house, I collapse onto my sectional sofa. I kick my legs up on the soft fabric and lean back against the headrest. âEight years.â
âHave they ever been in the black?â
I place my left foot on my right knee. âYes. Their first couple of years were good. If they didnât spend like drunken sailorsâor rockstarsâthey wouldâve been profitable every year.â
âIsnât that what rockstars do? I mean, donât they just spend as much as they make?â
âI donât know, Joanna. Iâve never met one.â
A giggle floats through my handset. âWell, seems to me that youâre going to be meeting a few. Tomorrow.â
Rats. I thought I had successfully diverted her thoughts. I switch up my legs so that my right foot now rests on my left knee. âWhatever. Theyâre just a job.â
Full-blown laughter assails my ears. âOh, honey, donât try to pull that crap with me. Braxton Hunte is all that and a bag of chips. And heâs a free agent now, since he got divorced. With a son whoâs his spitting image, which we both know only ups his appeal. Iâm impressedâyouâve figured out a way to be with him. Brava.â
Both my legs crash down onto my sectional and a scowl crosses my face. âFirst, this clientâemphasis on client, Joannaâis going to make me partner. Second, Hunte is a rock band, not a âhe.â Third, I enjoy their music, but I certainly do not have a crush on them.â
More laughter ensues. âSure. You keep telling yourself that. When youâre face to face with Braxton Hunte, remember my words. All your tingly bits are going to be singing his song.â
For as long as Arell Rivers can remember, she has been lost in a book. During her senior year in college, she picked up a Danielle Steel novel ⦠and instantly was hooked on romance.
Arell started writing her first novel because the characters were screaming at her to do so. The story started coming out in her dreams and attacking her in the shower, so she took to the computer to shut them up. But they kept talking.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Arell has what some may call a âcheckered past.â Prior to discovering her passion for writing romance, she practiced law, was a wedding and event planner and even dabbled in marketing. Arell lives with a very supportive husband and two mischievous cats. When not in her writing cave, Arell is found making dinner in the crock pot, working out with Shaun T or hitting the beach.
Arell is a PAN member (Published Author Network) of the New Jersey chapter of Romance Writers of America.
